2007 Heritage Festival

 
Heritage Week 2007:

 1)      Kathak dance was performed by Brazilian dancer, Manuela Benini at Arts Reverie, the arts residency space, at Dhal Ni Pol on 18th November, depicting the feelings about demolition of Heritage Buildings.

2) Photo exhibition of Shri T. S.Randhawa and other photographers at Green House of ‘Havelis of Ahmedabad’ restored by Heritage Cell, Ahmedabad Heritage Centre, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.














3)   Artists walk and workshop and exhibition on paintings of Walled City of Ahmedabad coordinated by Shri Arvind Vakani of Gujarat Visual Artists Association were held on 21st November.

4)      Inauguration of Heritage Walk Bags and an exhibition by Mata ni Pachedi – Kalamkari Artist of Ahmedabad, a product of Leap (Land and its people) a group of textile designers and an exhibition and demonstration on Pachedis was carried out at Swaminarayan Mandir, Kalupur at 8:00 am. 
The Bags were sponsored by SBI (State Bank of India). It was to be distributed on the beginning of The Artists Heritage Walk by Gujarat Visual Artists Association and other groups. 

5)      Exhibition and compilation of Posters of Heritage Walk designed as a class exercise by students of MICA at NID and launching of INHERITAGE – an interactive website on Heritage Walk as NID student exercise. It will be followed by a panel discussion on 24th November at NID.

6)      Inauguration of Wooden Chabutra by prominent artist  Shri Amit Ambalal at Karanj near Teen Darwaja with puppet show by Shri Mahipatbhai organized by Marwar Jain Yuva Sangh was held on 25th November.


7) Traditional Recipe Competition in Pol by Sristi  Innovations was organized from 24th November onwards.

8)  A discussion on role of art in Heritage Conservation was held on 25th November at HBM lounge, house of MG by Theatre & Media Centre, Ahmedabad. Prominent theatre personalities of Ahmedabad attended the discussion. 

9) The Times of India initiated Times Ahmedabad Festival During this period and published several articles on Heritage of Ahmedabad. 

10)   Photography exhibition at Sarkhej coordinated by ACF (Ahmedabad Community Foundation) and Sarkhej Roza Committee.
